D-P/3 Interface Project:
The Interface project started on the 23/03/2010, seven constructors turned up on the night to build the interface from a kit.
The first job to do was to print and etch eight PCB boards, when i do this at home i never seem to have any problems, but as usual when i have an audience nothing ever seems to go right, the gremlins got in and we ended up with only six boards etched.
Well done to the constructors who helped with the six boards that we managed to complete, I will finish the other two boards at home and hopefully leave the gremlins at the club.
Next Tuesday evening we will drill the PCBs and start soldering the components, this is where i will leave you and bring you up to date after the next construction evening.

Well that week certainly went quick, it's Tuesday the 30th of March already; doesn't time fly when your having fun.
All the PCBs have been drilled and our constructors have been working well, they have all more or less completed the PCB so it looks like next week will be boxing up and wiring.
I have included some photos of some of our constructors hard at work, well some of them are!

As you can see we have worked Keith G0RLN that hard he is exhausted; Harold G0UGE looks very deep in thought.
David G0SDO has certainly got his finger out, and just look at the speed of that soldering iron in the hand of Malcolm G0RXW.
That's all for now, call back and take a look at next weeks episode.

Tuesday 6th April.
Welcome back, this is now week three of the D-P/3 Interface build at PDARS.
The project is going well, we have one Interface finished already, it belongs to Keith G0RLN and was built by John G4PIR. John did the building because of Keith's work commitments.
We had four constructors absent this week due to holidays etc, we look forward to seeing them again next week.
I'm sorry there are no photos this week but I should have some next week, hopefully photos of the constructors with their finished Interface.
That's all for this week, call back to see the next update.

Tuesday 13th April
This is the fourth week of the Interface project and most of our constructors are well on their way to the finish.
As you can see from the photo Niall G4ISU is laughing his way to the finish.
It was a very busy evening again for me, I had several front panels to drill and fit with the stick on front label.
I think everyone has enjoyed the experience of building a piece of equipment for themselves.
It's even more fun when it works.
I hope Niall is still Laughing when we plug his Interface in, Hi.
It looks like Dave G0SDO, is getting to grips with his front panel.
Dave like many others at the club has built many of the projects featured at PDARS in the past.
Next week we should be testing some of the finished Interfaces, hopefully they will all work first time, if not we will soon have them working with a little bit of tinkering from our in house tinkering team!
Well that's all from me for this week, please call back next week and we may have some finished Interfaces to show you.

Tuesday 20th April
This will be the last update for the Interface project because the majority have now been completed.
Six Interfaces were tested this evening and apart from a couple of small glitches they are all working fine.
The remaining three units will be finished in the next couple of weeks.
I hope that everyone has enjoyed building the Interface and will go on to build other radio and electronic projects.
