Pontefract and District Amateur Radio Society ran running special event station GB0BUZZ from 24. March until 30. March 2008.
Rosse Observatory: Home of WYAS  

The station marked the visit of astronaut and moon walker Buzz Aldrin to Pontefract on Sunday, 30. March.

Colonel Aldrin gave a well-attended presentation at Carleton High School during the evening.

Buzz Aldrin retired from NASA as long ago as 1972. Since retiring from NASA, he has continued to promote space exploration and to speak about space and his experiences.

Our station was on the air daily on 80m and 40m HF amateur bands and on 2m VHF. QSL cards for all QSOs are now on their way via the RSGB bureau.
