CLUB LAUNCH: 5. JANUARY 2008
The Pontefract Junior Radio Club was officially launched on Saturday, 5. January 2008.

The opening was attended by 15 members, several members of PDARS and Harold Scrivens, G0UGE, RSGB Regional Manager, with Wayne Moate, M0WLM, West Yorkshire Deputy Regional Manager.

We were lucky enough to get full press coverage, with Pontefract and Castleford Express carrying a full-page feature with several photographs.

QSL card from GB1JRC

The club put GB1JRC on the air on the day and throughout January. With a special Club Launch QSL card, the station allowed many young people to pass messages to amateur stations across the UK and Europe.

The club meets every Saturday afternoon. Membership is open to boys and girls of full-time school age.
